Doctrinal Statement

About The Bible:

All Scripture contained in the Old and New Testaments is verbally, plenarily, and inerrantly inspired by God (Psalm 19:7-13). The Bible leads us to salvation by faith in Jesus Christ and is the authoritative guide for all Christian understanding, teaching, life, and ministry (2 Timothy 3:15-17; Psalm 119:105). God's Word is eternal (Psalm 119:89), is not to receive additions or omissions (Deuteronomy 4:2; Revelation 22:18-19; Galatians 1:8-9), and requires the Holy Spirit's revelation for correct understanding, interpretation, and application (1 Corinthians 2:7-16).

About God:

There is but one God eternally existent in three distinct Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Deuteronomy 6:4). Each is infinite, eternal, and almighty (Isaiah 44:6-8; John 1:1; Hebrews 1:8). God is also the Creator of all things (Genesis 1; 1 Corinthians 8:6). Furthermore, He is perfect in holiness, truth, and love (Isaiah 57:15; Job 34:10; Numbers 23:19; 1 John 4:7-8).

About Jesus Christ:

Jesus Christ, the Son, is fully God and fully man (John 1:1; John 1:14; 1 Timothy 3:16). He was conceived by the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:18), born of the virgin Mary (Matthew 1:23), He was born without sin (2 Corinthians 5:21), and He lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15; 1 John 3:5). Jesus died, shedding His blood in His substitutionary death for sinners (Isaiah 53:5; Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 1:7). After His burial, He rose from the dead through His resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:4; 1 Peter 1:3). He then ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19; Acts 1:9; 1 Peter 3:22).

About The Holy Spirit:

The Holy Spirit is co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Son as the third Person of the Godhead (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). The Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8-11). Immediately upon all believers' salvation, the Holy Spirit indwells them (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20), imparts spiritual life (i.e., Christ's life) to them (John 3:3-6; Romans 8:9-11), and unites them to the Father and the Son by faith (1 Corinthians 6:17; Ephesians 2:18). Furthermore, He eternally seals all believers (2 Corinthians 1:22; Ephesians 1:13-14, 4:30). However, while the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is promised to all believers, His filling is not (Ephesians 4:30, 5:18; Galatians 5:16; 1 Thessalonians 5:19).

About Man:

Unlike the animals, man (i.e., humanity) was created in God's image and likeness (Genesis 1:26-27). It was through man’s free volition that he disobeyed God (Genesis 2:16-17, 3:6-7). Through his rebellion, all humanity incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is eternal separation from God (Romans 5:12, 6:23; Ephesians 2:1; 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9). Furthermore, all humanity inherited from Adam a sinful nature (Romans 3:23, 5:12). Because of this, each human is born a sinner by nature, is incapable of restoring his relationship with God via personal merit or works, and requires divine salvation through Jesus Christ (John 14:6; Acts 4:11-12; Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5). Rejecting this salvation results in an eternal sentencing to hell (Matthew 25:41-46; 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9; Revelation 20:11-15, 21:8).

About Salvation:

Salvation is a free gift from God (Romans 6:23), made possible through Christ’s substitutionary death (Isaiah 53:5; Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 1:7). It can only be received through faith in Jesus Christ and His work of salvation (John 3:16; Romans 3:25). All who believe in Him are redeemed and justified by the shedding of His blood (Romans 5:9; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 9:22). Because salvation is given by grace, the believer’s salvation is eternally secure (John 6:37, 10:27-29; Romans 8:38-39; 2 Corinthians 1:21-22; Ephesians 1:13-14, 4:30; Hebrews 10:10; 1 John 5:13; Jude 1:24-25).

About Baptism:

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is sent upon all who believe in Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13). This takes place in all believers immediately upon salvation, when the Spirit indwells them (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Continual infilling may follow if the believer walks with the Spirit, but can be forfeited by quenching or grieving Him (Ephesians 4:30, 5:18; Galatians 5:16; 1 Thessalonians 5:19). Each gift given by the Holy Spirit is for the edification of the Body of Christ, and is still present today (1 Corinthians 12:7-11, 14:1-3).

Of note, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is separate from water baptism, which is a public proclamation of the believer's faith in Christ and a representation of His death, burial, and resurrection that saved us (1 Peter 3:21).

About The Great Commission:

Without exception, all believers are responsible for fulfilling the Great Commission, where Jesus commands, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20).

About The Church:

The Church is the body and the bride of Christ (Romans 12:4-5; 1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 2:22, 5:23; 26-27). It is dedicated to worshipping and serving God (1 Peter 2:5, 9-10), observing Baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 10:16-17, 11:23-26), and performing good works (Ephesians 2:10; Titus 2:14). The church's primary task in all ages is to fulfill the Great Comission by teaching all nations and making disciples through the preaching and teaching of God's Word (Matthew 28:19-20).

About Eternity:

Christ will one day return to rapture His church, taking all believers alive at the time to heaven without them dying (John 14:1-4; 1 Corinthians 15:50-58; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 5:9). Immediately following this, the seven-year tribulation period will begin (Matthew 24:21). Concluding this, Christ will come again to the earth and establish His rule for a 1,000 year period (Zechariah 14:3-11; Matthew 24:29-31; Revelation 1:7, 20:1-6). After this time period, the Great White Throne judgment of the unsaved will occur (2 Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:11-15), coupled with Satan and his demons also being cast into the lake of fire (2 Peter 2:4; Revelation 20:10). Finally, Christ will then establish a New Heaven and a New Earth, where He will dwell with all believers for eternity (Revelation 21:1-8).

All these events comprise what believers call the consummation of all things.
