2018 Poem

The Relentless Love of Christ

Oh, the relentlessly unending love of Christ,

That loved you and me before there was light,

A love that existed before time began,

A love that pleaded for the creation of man,

Before there were angels to sing His praise,

Before there were stars to shine ablaze,

Christ was there, with the Godhead three,

The inseparable Trinity, thinking of you and me,

Every member of humanity that would ever be,

Was always in His mind throughout eternity,

The Godhead, despite the consequences in store,

Desired to dwell in nothingness no more,

The Lord created us, even though fully aware,

That humanity would fall and come short with despair,

In His infinite wisdom beyond all understanding,

He knew that we would deserve his reprimanding,

Oh, the relentlessly hopeful love of Christ,

That desired to bring all humanity to life,

A love that refused to force our affection,

A love that could not demand our attention,

All of Creation, the Godhead would create,

From heaven above, to the human populace,

The first man and woman, Adam and Eve,

Placed in the garden Eden, created perfectly,

But free will was a must, the Lord desired,

Humanity's choice to worship, the Lord admired,

Despite the risk of man's rebellion to God's way,

Humanity was given the choice to abide or stray,

The Tree of Good and Evil, and the Tree of Life,

The Lord made them both for man and his wife,

The decision was theirs, the stage was set,

Would they choose God's way, or sin and regret?

Oh, the relentlessly caring love of Christ,

That eternally pleaded for fallen humanity's life,

A love that knew that we would all fall short,

A love that still cared despite our sin-stained report,

Satan, the Tempter, cruelly guised as a crafty snake,

Taking bitter revenge following his rebellion's wake,

He convinced Eve to partake of the forbidden fruit,

Then she caused her husband to quickly follow suit,

Within a shocking moment, the couple then realized,

Creation's perfection was broken, seen from their opened eyes,

They had chosen their way, to know good from evil,

Rather than relying on God, they sent Creation in upheaval,

With His Creation overcome by humanity's sin,

No longer could the Lord personally commune with them,

Because His holiness deemed that sin deserved death,

Man's spirit died that day, and his immortality had left,

Oh, the relentlessly gracious love of Christ,

That had a plan for humanity's inevitable plight,

A love that would overcome the destined fall,

A love that was promised to rescue all,

Adam and Eve, stained with horrid, ruinous sin,

Spoiled the perfect life their Creator had given them,

In their own power, all hope was forever lost,

Unable to pay their decision's irredeemable cost,

But God the Father, in His infinite love and grace,

Prepared in advance to redeem the human race,

The plan of redemption, made in eternity past,

The stage was now set, in full motion at last,

The sinful couple was banned from the Lord's paradise,

But not without hope and the promise of a future sacrifice,

God Almighty, despite His holiness deeming its judgment,

Promised humanity a Savior Who would bleed for its atonement,

Oh, the relentlessly fighting love of Christ,

That came to our defense during mankind's twilight,

A love that would avenge Satan's cruel deception,

A love that would suffer abuse for our redemption,

The fall of man cursed humanity and all the earth,

But one other being was also to receive his due hurt,

For his crimes against God and his deception of man,

Satan would be eternally punished, also his demonic clan,

The Lord assigned to the devil an irreversible fate,

He prophesied Satan's defeat at the hands of our Advocate,

The Messiah would repay the devil for his wicked deceit,

He would be permanently crushed in humiliating defeat,

But vengeance and salvation would not come without cost,

For the requirements for these fulfillments required great loss,

These astounding burdens would be carried by no other,

Than the One who, for humanity's sake, would traumatically suffer,

Oh, the relentlessly foretelling love of Christ,

That proclaimed His coming, history's greatest rewrite,

A love that spoke and could not be silenced,

A love that foretold and took no defiance,

From Adam and Eve to Mary and Joseph,

The prophesy was proclaimed for all to know it,

This message of hope, prophets would proclaim,

Risking their lives for others to be saved,

Though Satan worked through men to quench this proclamation,

His efforts were vain, for God's Word is above ruination,

No king could silence it, no false prophet could corrupt it,

No demon could destroy it, no pagan could snuff it,

The Messiah's coming, the light of hope for the ages,

Impassioned prophecy, bound up in life-giving pages,

Humanity's turning point, proclaimed for all to hear,

Christ's love-letter, sent to the beings He held dear,

Oh, the relentlessly devoted love of Christ,

That came down to earth to pay our price,

A love that gave up divine dignity,

A love that took up wretched humanity,

The Alpha and Omega, God the Father's Son,

Coming to fix the perfection man had undone,

The King of Kings, vanquisher of sin,

Stepping down to put on humanity's skin,

The celestial sacrifice Christ made in His entry,

Leaving heaven to join our lowly assembly,

Fully God and man, God-Incarnate was He,

Lovingly choosing to dwell with disgusting humanity,

No other fictitious god that blind humanity began,

Would ever or could ever love or care enough to save man,

But the One True God, He who is eternal Love,

Sent His only Son to be the ultimate gift from above,

Oh, the relentlessly selfless love of Christ,

That entered the world to undeserved spite,

A love that came without heaven's merited splendor,

A love that suffered for history's greatest endeavor,

Though He rules Heaven, the universe, and all within it,

Jesus came in human form, and to its limitations He would submit,

The Lord God Almighty, arriving as a helpless infant,

An ever-humble entry, rather than one deservedly triumphant,

Born not into the stubborn atmosphere of royalty,

But rather sent to the accepting outcasts of society,

Brought to earth by a lowly couple so faithful,

Welcomed at birth by humble shepherds in a stable,

Not even a simple inn would accept His presence,

Only in a filthy stable would His birth find acceptance,

Born in a squalled barn, laid in a nasty manger,

A rag for a robe; this was our King and Savior,

Oh, the relentlessly compassionate love of Christ,

That worked to deliver man from sin's vicious bite,

A love that lived not for self, but for the sake of others,

A love that cared for all like sisters and brothers,

His life was a love that lived like no other,

His ways were a light that broke man's dark slumber,

Not a soul on earth was out of His loving reach,

The outcasts of society desperately received His speech,

Not one action of Christ's was for Himself,

But for others' joy, deliverance, and health,

Miracles unlike the world had ever seen,

Were done by Him for all who would believe,

The blind, deaf, and mute were miraculously made whole,

All sickness and illness yielded to His control,

The hungry were satisfied, and sinners were forgiven,

The demons were conquered, and death could not defy Him,

Oh, the relentlessly resilient love of Christ,

That remained constant despite man's spite,

A love whose perfection caused wicked men to blench,

A love that our sinful world's hatred could never quench,

Despite coming to earth solely to serve humanity,

Jesus' kind and gracious ways found Him many enemies,

Kings, religious leaders, and citizens hated Him with vigor,

For His perfect love reached out to tax collectors, lepers, and sinners,

The world fervently hated Him with a sinful disdain,

His incarnated presence in Israel made it writhe in pain,

His countrymen rejected Him, mainly the religious authority,

The few that truly believed in Him quickly became a hated minority,

Despite the sinful hatred, despite the heartless rejection,

Our Lord spread to all His unconditional affection,

For His mission was never to gain social popularity,

But rather was to win our salvation for all eternity,

Oh, the relentlessly reckless love of Christ,

That purchased our lives by forgoing His rights,

A love that paid our way to Heaven in blood,

A love that was tortured by evil's vicious flood,

Though Christ changed countless lives while living,

It was His death that became His ultimate giving,

For humanity's sin had left it with an inescapable stain,

God's righteousness left mankind in unbreakable disdain,

The bloodshed of animals could never suffice,

It only represented the rescue plan: a worthy sacrifice,

This was Christ, the selfless, redeeming Son of God,

The Messiah, the King of the Jews, bringing hope abroad,

The holiness of God, unable to coexist with man's sin,

The compassion of Christ, bringing mankind back to Him,

The wickedness of men, knowing not their callous doing,

The hatred of the Jews, blinded by their scornful booing,

Overcome by unbelief, jealousy, and strife,

The Pharisees chose to take the Messiah's life,

Completely unaware of His purpose and mission,

They chose to kill Him, blindly helping His ambition,

With salvation set in His heart, Christ submitted to their ruling,

In their wicked plot, they gave Him to torture most grueling,

Whipped, beaten, pierced, torn, and spat on,

Punched, slapped, mocked with crown of thorns on,

The Innocent Lamb, tortured like a detestable criminal,

Punished 'til a bloody mess, with organs and bones visible,

Brought before the crowd as a hideous public display,

Tricked by His enemies, the Jews demanded He be done away,

The Almighty Son of God, in life's end at its worst,

Tortured more than any other, treated as a detestable curse,

His suffering, uncalled for; His coming, disrespected,

But His love for mankind remained strong though rejected,

Oh, the relentlessly sacrificing love of Christ,

That bore our sins and shame to bring us life,

A love that was completely unrestrained by the worries of self,

A love that was thoroughly committed to our spiritual health,

The Messiah, King of Kings and Lord of Lords,

Tortured 'til nothing was left but living gore,

Humanity's ungrateful wrath was fully unleashed,

On the Son of Man, our interceding High Priest,

His mission nigh completed, too weak to carry His cross,

He was taken to Golgotha to be killed for sin's cost,

Our omnipotent Messiah, gruesomely hanging on a tree,

He submitted to this disgrace to make us eternally free,

Though the physical torture He endured was like no other,

His greatest suffering came when He separated from the Father,

God the Father had no choice in order to save us for eternity,

But to turn His back on Christ and let Him suffer unspeakably,

Jesus Messiah, King and Savior for all eternity,

Came to earth as deified man, yet suffered brutally,

Though it was His choice, one that could've been abandoned,

He chose to suffer for humanity as the Father commanded,

He was the perfect sacrifice for all mankind's sin,

Brutally gored by soldiers, left with bloodstained skin,

His bones and organs were uncovered while He hung upon the cross,

His death was a display of selfless love that came to redeem our loss,

He was the spotless, willing Lamb of God, living without sin,

He died to redeem our broken cause: with God forever live,

His perfection allowed Him to take up every transgression,

His transmission of our sins purchased our eternal remission,

This was the ultimate love, affection like no other,

One that drove Him to die for us as a selfless brother,

No other god ever to be created by the minds of foolish man,

Would ever display such perfect love to save our sin-stained clan,

Oh, the relentlessly victorious love of Christ,

That conquered our transgressions to win eternal life,

A love that never feared or lost to death,

A love that triumphed over Satan's best,

Though He died to the murderous Jewish wave,

His work was not completed while in the grave,

The Lord's plan of salvation was near its close,

Sin and death would be vanquished when Christ arose,

Sin could not profane Him, mankind could not impair Him,

Death could not destroy Him, the grave could not ensnare Him,

A mere three days did His body remain in the tomb,

Then Christ was resurrected, and man's sin met its doom,

The resurrection: Christ's final hurrah in saving humanity,

History's greatest moment, a cornerstone of Christianity,

The greatest proof that our perfect and loving Redeemer,

Truly saved mankind and is far more than a dead teacher,

Oh, the relentlessly searching love of Christ,

That continues to seek those who will accept His light,

A love that desperately reaches out to all that are lost,

A love that desires that no one suffer sin's lethal cost,

From the time of His resurrection to the time we are blessed with today,

Jesus has given His followers a loving charge to not waste life away,

But for them to go out into the world, so bitter, cold, and godless,

To share to all Christ's hope and love, uplifting, holy, and flawless,

There is no greater gift than this, no cause more worth our time,

There is no graver task than this, no calling so sublime,

The Great Commission is truly Christ Jesus's most earnest desire,

That humanity would know His saving love, and their hearts He would acquire,

This amazing grace is ready to save; we must make the sweet sound,

Countless blinded women and men are desperately waiting to be found,

The moment of truth has already come, and most certainly won't last forever,

It's time to proclaim Christ's perfect love to all and tell of His saving endeavor,

The relentless, redeeming love of Christ, unexplainable with a single word,

Let us never cease teaching it's saving works, and never leave a heart unstirred.
