No resource can match it, no need can surpass,
Than what all mankind oh so strives to amass,
In family, marriage, and friends do they seek,
That which is hopeful and patient and meek,
Love is this treasure mankind oh so needs,
Wondrous this treasure; all else it exceeds,
But fleeting and rare it has sadly become,
For sin has grown strong and our hearts have gone numb,
While love should be faithful and last for all time,
Our promises break and relationships die,
Though love should be selfless and yearn for the truth,
Our selfish, deceitful agendas we choose,
While love we desire and seek it forlorn,
From romances, family, friendships so warm,
No love from this world; from women and men,
Will ever be perfect or live without end,
For sin from the Fall has corrupted our hearts,
Brought death to the world and has torn it apart,
Now sin rules our lives and corrupts all our love,
And death, our poor loved ones now sadly succumb,
Then seeing a need for salvation from sin,
Through works and religion did we try to win,
But actions alone have not ever removed,
The sin in our hearts that all heaven reproved,
A love that was perfect was our greatest need,
But sin was our master and love it'd impede,
In need of a Savior was our true estate,
But worthy of judgment was our current fate,
But God, our Creator and though righteous Judge,
Still loved all mankind and did so without grudge,
His unchanging nature, His love was a part,
So great was this love, without end or a start,
While love in this world had been marred with our sin,
The love of our Father withstood our tailspin,
Though man had abused the free will He had gave,
The love of our Father sought rescue so brave,
But judgment, His righteousness so rightly called,
For sin made His holiness greatly appalled,
But love was His nature, yet righteousness, too,
What plan could He make to see both of them through?
This plan was then made before time had begun,
To save all mankind through His singular Son,
Whose life He would give to free man from sin's gov.,
Whose death would both satisfy judgement and love,
His birth, we remember this great Christmas morn,
Brought hope from above to mankind oh so worn,
His kingship in heaven, He laid it aside,
To come as a servant with love so divine,
His life, He gave up for He lived it for us,
With healings and teachings; for us He did thus,
In perfect behavior and obedient love,
He beat all temptation and evil thereof,
His death, though so gruesome and brought Him great pain,
Our sins He took on and His blood made them vain,
Though judgment, not grace, was the fate we deserved,
His love still remained; our salvation He earned,
His love still lives on, though He died on the cross,
Three days He then rose and left earth with no loss,
From heaven, He helps those who truly believe:
It's those who, in faith, His salvation receive,
The Love that is perfect now reaches His hand,
To all who want free from sin's dreadful wasteland,
Accepting His gift and repenting of sin,
Will bring the salvation from judgment so grim,
His love is so patient, it's always so kind,
It never will fail you or leave you behind,
His love is so gracious, its patience withstands,
Perfection from us it will never demand,
This love, oh so perfect, brings true lasting change,
Conforming our minds to break sin's wretched reins,
Remains in all hardships, with all we must share,
This love of our Father that conquered sin's snare.
