The day has drawn near, my time has come,
To stand before Him, the righteous Judge,
The time was set, my days were numbered,
For all my wrongdoings to be uncovered,
These sin-stained clothes too obvious to hide,
I'm doomed to wear as I enter His abide,
My sin was blatant, affixed to my person,
An offender by birth, living in burden,
As I entered the courtroom, no hope could be found,
For my enemies were present, watching all around,
The whole world, it seemed, was here to witness,
My eternal undoing; my unending sentence,
No seat was left, for they all were taken,
By eager watchers; their intents brazen,
An eager jury, with condemning intentions,
Hoped to see me guilty with no interventions,
I took my place, in front of my Maker,
His inspection of me clearly lacked favor,
My transgressions, so obvious, He couldn't ignore,
For all sin, His righteousness was required to abhor,
The court chanted, "Guilty! Condemnation for you!"
So desperate were they to see my sentence go through,
No mercy in sight, no hope seemed possible,
For my human good was worthless and comical,
Then I realized, as the crowd pronounced my sentence,
An advocate was needed to win His acceptance,
My foolish efforts to achieve a sinless state,
Were futile; thus sealing my sin-stained fate,
No law, no deed, no abstinent mood,
Could rescue me from my sin's exude,
But as the crowd cheered with my hope suppressed,
The Judge was informed of a surprise guest,
In a strangely assured manner, He permitted the entry,
And a shocked audience held a silence temporarily,
As the visitor made His entry, He quietly took His place,
And looked at me with a profound love in His face,
He proclaimed His purpose was to come to my defense,
And at once the Judge permitted that He commence,
Amazed was I at this miraculous change of events,
The crowd was now silent, and the Judge showed me benevolence,
What had started as my trial had now become my rescue,
As my Advocate explained how He paid my debts due,
The words He brought forth were of love like no other,
The grace He spoke of gave the room blissful wonder,
Redemption He provided through His perfect life,
Remission He invited by taking Earth's strife,
As a Lamb, He came here to be sacrificed for all,
As a Lion, He again rose to be death's curtain call,
My Advocate's worthy blood, so spotless and sinless,
Provided for my atonement, so caring and selfless,
No works of my own could satisfy my indebtedness,
Only Him alone could vanquish sin's wretchedness,
When my Advocate concluded His proposition,
The Judge turned to me and requested my submission,
My every sin and debt would come to a waiver,
If only I would accept the Advocate as my Savior,
It was then that a monstrous outcry arose in the court,
For the crowd was enraged at such unmerited support,
The tribunal vengefully declared my iniquity,
They touted their agenda by forgoing their dignity,
Cries for my judgment and removal of all grace,
Were clamored by the crowd and filled the entire place,
Their desires for justice having not been given,
The whole world, it seemed, demanded my derision,
But then came the mighty swing of the Judge's great gavel,
And at once came an end to the crowd's chaotic babble,
The case was now closed, and my debts were forgiven,
For I accepted my Advocate's gracious proposition,
My Advocate became my Savior that glorious day,
For His grace had won and my sin was done away,
Though it required my surrender to Him in servitude,
It pales in comparison to the payment He pursued,
Joy uncontainable has filled my whole being,
For an unwinnable case was fulfilled by believing,
By grace through faith, and not by my merits,
Have I received salvation and a Savior I cherish,
By Christ pleasing His Father, the Judge over all,
Humanity can be free from Adam's dreadful fall,
Those who choose to claim Jesus as Savior,
Have their sins forgiven and debts waivered,
Standing in the Lord's courtroom, my soul shall sing,
From entering a sinner, to exiting redeemed,
Though judgment will be deserved; such the world will mandate,
Hope will always come in the form of the Advocate.
