In Need of a Savior

1. All people are sinners by nature and stand guilty before God.

Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Ecclesiastes 7:20, “Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins.”

2. We cannot make ourselves righteous before God because we have irreversibly broken His Law.

James 2:10-11, “For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it. For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.”

Romans 3:20, “For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.”

3. God's immeasurable love for us led His Son Jesus to earn our salvation by dying for our sins because God’s justice demands our eternal torment in hell.

Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

4. Jesus’ salvation, the only way to God, is not a reward we can earn, but a free gift we must humble ourselves to receive.

Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

5. To be saved and enter heaven when you die, you must repent from your sins, place your faith in Jesus, and pray from a changed heart to receive Him as your Savior and Lord.

Luke 13:3, “No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

Romans 10:9-10, “Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”
